some maintenance needs and questions

just got off the phone with the stealership, turns out I need new rotors up front and pads all around, total cost about $750+ Well I am not entirely stupid, so gonna buy some aftermarkets and do this myself..

Recommendations on what to upgrade to for a decent price on these parts? Good place to purchase from?

Other problem was with the airbag light on, turns out it is a faulty clockspring ($75.00 piece) they wanted around $380 to fix!!!

From what I have discovered earlier in the week, just need to remove the steering wheel to replace this, I have taken off plenty of steering wheels, but none ever with airbags, this makes me a bit nervous, any tips or procedures from you all would be very helpful!

On the other hand, I have a new exhaust in the garage waiting to go in, harley headlights waiting on the adaptor kit from Dfuser to arrive!

what sucks is the price for these brakes was going to be used for DP-Tuner /cry

gonna have to wait a little longer it looks like

Bought my pads from NAPA, I think it set me back a C-note. If you can wait, there are some nice rotors and pad available from on-line sources that are the real deal. I'm sure someone will chime in. If you have basic automotive knowledge, brake pad and rotor work is easy stuff on these trucks. Remember to overhaul/or replace the slide pins!

Read this for the slide pins, I never cussed so loudly after mine were frozen in the calipers. Had to replace the calipers because of it.

Welcome to guzzle's Front Caliper Slide Pin Upgrade Web Page

oh. BTW, read this for pad and rotor upgrade info:

I went back with OEM rotors and pads from the dealer. The original sets lasted 117,000 miles, and could have gone more.

I got mine thru ebay and are very happy with them.. in ebay search block use item # 220159526150 .. or call them 1 -815-263-2807. (rear slotted rotors with ceramic pads are $149 + shipping.)

my initial thought was to get some powerslots (non cryo) and hawk pads, but i'm pushing $400.00 there for front rotors, and front and rear brake pads..

came across these,

eBay Motors: Ford F250 4WD 99 00 01 02 03 04 Front Brake Rotors Pads (item 280247693119 end time Jul-25-08 20:00:00 PDT)

I don't do any towing now, but theres a boat and camper coming in the next year or two..

thoughts?

Yes I do. Grab the steering wheel at 3:00 and 9:00 positions with firm grip. Raise legs to base of steering wheel on dash. OK, here is the tricky part. Have a 1 ton PSD going 54 mph hit you in the rear. Steering wheel will come off.
