Anything fun to do in New England

my girlfriend and I are taking a week off. We'd like to head down to New Hampshire for a little camping. Maybe drive to the coast and explore the sights along the way. We both need a little time together and need some activities to keep us occupied.

Also any good tips on getting Hotel discounts? Christine doesn't like scary looking motels with neon signs. She likes to stay at a Best Western or some other national chain where you can get internet and a free breakfast.

I like new hampshire, very nice area, but if you have the time, you should go check out the mansions down in Newport Rhode Island, very very cool.

Anything fun to do in New England
Leaving, is always fun....

Just kidding, New England is beautiful, especially in the fall. I don't travel there in the winter much though.

For hotels, I highly recommend Holiday Inn Express. Clean. Inside room entry. All have at least a Continental breakfast. Some now have omelets and such. All included in the price.

No yanks in New England? You must mean "Yankees", as in the little league baseball team from NY? The definition of a Yankee puts them squarely in NH. Not sure where I heard this, but it's the honest truth...

The Definition of a Yankee

In the world, a Yankee is someone who comes from the Western Hemisphere

In the Western Hemisphere, a Yankee is someone who comes from North America

In North America, a Yankee is someone who comes from the US

In the US, a Yankee is someone who comes from north of the Mason-Dixon Line

Above the Mason-Dixon Line, a Yankee is someone who comes from New England

In New England, a Yankee is someone from New Hampshire

And in New Hampshire, a Yankee is someone who has pie for breakfast...

Drive the Kangamangus Highway in New Hampshire.

You could also do a whale watch if you make it down to the coast...or some deep sea fishing.

Maine - take the coast roads and visit President Bush and Jessica Fletcher Lots of so called "antique" shopping. I think ME has the best camping and some really big lakes.

There is a submarine in NH off a major highway (I-95?) you can visit.

Nice racetrack in Lee NH.

Check out Salisbury Beach - pretty much nothing but dives for motels in that area, but, a nice arcade area and food stuffs. fried dough is good. Best to go there in early morning, as you go towards the beach, there should be a place to park RVs on the right behind a chain link fence. Been a few years since I was there, things may have changed.

Salem Willows in Salem MA - nothing special, just nice sitting around, plus, they have a cruise available in a big DUCK. Good Chinese food place. I guess you could say "quaint".

Lots of nice walking around to do in downtown Salem. Lots of different food places.

Boston MA - The ship Constitution, Science Muesuem, Haymarket Square. If you are into martial arts, kind of out of the way, but Wey Lums. Small private studio.

Acadia National Park, Popham Beach, and Reed State Park, all in Maine. I grew up in that area, those are some great beaches, with the price of gas Acadia should be just about deserted, and the carriage trails there are great for family bike trips.

2nd that. One of New England's greatest motorcycling roads!

Mount Washington in the White Mountain National Forest has a great view and is known for the fastest recorded winds in the U.S.
