What are you asking about? The O2 sensors?

I really don't think anything changed on the motors from 99 to 00/01 other than the heads. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but one of those years is when Ford switched to the PI (Performance Improved) heads. So I'm thinking that sensors won't be the problem but the stock computer will need reprogrammed or swapped out.

All the PI-headed V10's I've heard of do NOT have an EGR valve, and the pre-PI headed V10's ('99) DO.

I'm pretty sure they have a DPFE (EGR flow sensor), so if you don't carry that over to the new motor, complete with exhaust manifolds (which are different), the PCM will never like it.

If it were me, and you want to fully take advantage of the newer motor, take the exhaust manifolds, leave OFF the EGR, and get the PCM (and possibly the wiring harness unless it's the same except for the DPFE sensor wiring).

'99 is pre-PI, '00 is PI.

also what im looking at is what to remove in front of the motor - that would make it easier for the motor to come out?

Someone here posted up about how he removed the V10 from his SD - he removed everything he could in front of the motor - grill, radiator, radiator support, everything.

He said it wasn't TOO bad

You will have to remove the upper intake or raise the cab about 8-9 inches..

removing the upper intake is ok.

since someone suggested removing the cab - im curious as how to do that without removing to many parts..

also i talked to the guy who owned the motor - he said the tag on valve cover has sept 1999 as the engine date.

my vehicle is dated april 1999 - so hopefully it wont be to complicated in the hook up department.

now i just have to convince the girl friend / landlord - into letting me keep the old motor in garage for a tear down.

You can remove the core support bolts and front cab mount bolts and raise up just the front part of the cab BUT watch the cab-bed space to make sure it doesnt hit... The reason for the cab raise is so there is enough room to lift the engine over the crossmember......

And, disconnect the master cylinder from the power booster

The V10 dated September 1999, MIGHT BE a model-year 2000

My '01's V10 is dated sometime in September 2000 but it's a model-year 2001.

Check the heads for "PI" cast into them near the rear, under the exhaust ports. If it's a "PI" headed V10, it's a 2000-and-up.
