Rust on pulley (prospective truck)
I've been looking for a new truck and peeked underneath to be surprised by a lot more surface rust than my truck has. I searched and found complaints of surface rust on the frames but this is a bit different. The rust on the pulleys and castings are pitted and the truck only has 40,xxx miles on it and is a year newer than my truck....The rear diff cover looks like its flaking rust now, whereas mine had just started to flake at 223,xxx.
does this look normal?

My motor home looked identical. It was a 92. Never seen salt. Only had 40k miles.. It sat in the yard 90 percent of its life. Sitting is bad. Only 3,4 trips a year. I think the moisture from the grass/ground/yard caused this Or maybe, In the winter when everything is frozen and we have a warmer day. Everything sweats. What the oil pan look like?

Looks like that truck has seen a lot of salt. I've had to put a couple motors in my '98 Jimmy w/160k on it and the 3rd one looked almost new compared to the other 2. Once the aluminum is pitted, there is no easy way to make it look good again. I'd be extra careful. Definitely check the oil pan.

The truck is from Oregon used primarily for travel supposedly, but the carfax says corporate fleet which concerns me because my truck is a corporate fleet and now needs a new rear end... This truck isn't brand new, but pretty close at a tick over 40,000 miles...

The aluminum surrounding the steel parts on that picture are not showing much, if any, corrosion at all.
The price seems a little steep, but if it is truly immaculate other than the rusty pulley, then IMO either you pay the money or the next guy will get it.
Last year production of the 7.3, nice truck except for the PMR rods.
