Ok here is my findings finally after getting my oil samples taken and back. Now the samples have uncovered other issues and unfortunately I had not sent in my last sample from last oil change until this week but that is not the matter of this discussion. So here are the samples.
Rotella 15W40 with 5500 miles, 259K on the engine and to the best of my knowledge the reservoir has not been cleaned out ever except it was drained when I install my 17* pump 40K ago.
First Column is the crankcase sample
Second column is the reservoir sample
Third column is Schaeffers 9000 (not sure why the wear change!!)
So other than the viscosity being a bit higher in Sump sample than the HPOP sample they are pretty much identical. With all the metals and coolant floating around in these samples there is plenty of things to check for similarities

I have changed mine out,the oil I took out looked like what came out of the pan.So I don't think it will hurt to do it once or twice a year.
