Drove my truck for first time... Shoulder update

I drove my 54 F100 for the first time since my shoulder replacement surgery. It has only been six and a half weeks. I wasn't sure if my left arm was ready especially when backing and turning. I was sort of forced into it. My sone bought a new house and moved in on March 6. His gas grille was still at the house of a dear older friend where he rented a room, it actually was hers and she let him have it. He is friends with the new owner but it was time to get it to his new place. I put a moving blanket on my bed and then a blue tarp over that. Zach and one of his buddies sat in the back to hold the grille. It was only about 6 blocks. My arm and shoulder was fine and it is good to be behind the wheel again. As a matter of fact it was easier to use my left arm to back into the garage, I have to make a turn, than before surgery.

No pics of the grille and the boys but one thru the windshield.

And now I hear we are to get 4-5 inches of snow on Monday...

Also, thanks for your thoughts and prayers and pep talks. And it was not as bad nor as long of a rehab as I thought.

Glad to see you're healing up fine, Abe, and that your rehab is going well. I have a friend that just had a full hip replacement right after Christmas. He's very happy with the results and says he's had more pain stubbing his toe than he's had from the surgery. He could barely walk before but now, like you said, it's easier to do things than before. The miracles of modern medicine are amazing. Keep up the good work and take care of yourself.

Excellent! Well done on the rehab.

The snow will melt and driving season will be here before you know it.

Good to hear about your rehab progress, Abe.

And yep, your hood fits about the same as mine. Nobody but all of us will notice.
But I do see you are keeping the truck very clean. Nice.

Its easy to keep it clean if you don't drive it.

We didn't get any snow, as predicted.

I didn't go to physical therapy today. My wife and I are bunkering in trying to avoid the virus. I did go to the post office today. I wore a vinyl glove and then wiped down my debit card. Stopped at the hardware store to buy grass seed but they are closed.... But I can now take my truck on a long drive to get out and stay away from people.

Than-you to all for the nice words.

Shoulder rehab Update: I've been driving my trucks for a month now with no problems except when backing at slow speeds when my left arm needs to go over the top of the wheel to the right.

I've been mowing our club's soccer fields with our zero turn with no problems. But a buddy was mowing my weekly lawns for me as I have to lift my push mower onto the flatbed. Well today after I mowed my lawn at home I pushed my mower behind my truck. I was able to lift it onto the bed with no problem. Matter of fact it was easier than it was last fall with the bad shoulder. So I went a mowed a lawn I hadn't told my buddy about since it didn't need mowed earlier. So I'm back in action.

Here's a picture of my truck in their driveway.

I'm glad to hear you're doing better and feel back to normal. I will still ask you take it easy and don't push too hard. I watched my Dad suffer for years with a shoulder re-injury, so this kind of thing scares me to no end. A Tommy Lift is cheaper than a redo if you're going to be doing heavy, awkward lifting. Please take care of yourself.
