The Ford-driving officer, J. Mueller - CHP, was far-cool! He completely understands on-line forums and get-togethers, as he's in one for Lincoln Mark VIII LSC's. (Google it.)

He did give Griff one piece of good advice, and that was to put SOME kind of red reflectors on the rear, as that would be the very first thing he'd notice, since Griff has smoked tail lenses. It's a safety kind of thing, after all!

The time spent yakking with the CHP was only a small part of our day, and good camaraderie was had by all over lunch. Fletcher was within five hours of having to return to Down Unda' at the time we broke it up about 2pm.

yeah it was a good get together! marv always good to hear you talk about the history of any area we are in, steve great to shoot the breeze with you, and brady always good to joke with you! now i have to take fletcher to LAX for his long trip home. glad he could see our shiny trucks though (even if some werent so shiny!)! griff good to meet you! and see your beastful truck in person, we will have to have another meet sometime!

For the most part, CA seems to be about as lax as they can be about lifts and tires and mud flaps and stuff. We seem to have the rules like other states, but the cops just don't get off on enforcing them. Griff's truck would be a cops wet dream in most other states. I guess the cops are too busy looking for seat belt scofflaws.

One of the topics that came up today, since Fletcher was going back to Australia, was the subject of the Qantas flight that had an explosive decompression and had to make an emergency landing in Manila on Friday.

Having come out of the aviation industry, I was pretty confident when I said during the conversation that Qantas had never killed a passenger.

Well, it should have been "a JET passenger", as they "did in" a few in the early years.
