Need basic information, please...
I think I want to own a Ford truck. I don't know a thing about engines. What do I want to own to pull a 2-horse trailer fully loaded - est about 6-8000 pounds? I pull a smaller one now with a Jeep Cherokee.
Someone told me I need a 3/4 ton truck. What does that mean? I see lots of F150's out there but not F250's. Are they hard to find used?
What is the difference in engine sizes?
What is a 4.0 liter vs a 5.8 liter or 7.5 liter engine?
What is a 386 vs a 464? What does that mean?
Pretty sure I need 4-wheel drive. Right?
What else do I need to know before I go shopping?

No you don't need a 3/4 ton unless you plan on pulling that little trailer all the time. A F150 with a towing package will suffice just fine. No, you don't need a 460 or someother monster motor. A 4.6 or a 5.4 (5.4 will do better) in the current models will move you just fine. A 3/4 ton has heavier components, brakes, suspension, driveline, axles, etc. You do not need 4X4 unless you plan on driving on dirt roads when they are wet. And even then I would think twice before I pulled a trailer down them. A lot of people drive 3/4 diesels to rodeos in 2 wheel drive p/u's. So long as your truck has a towing package I wouldn't worry about it.
