Challengers hit dealers
Okay, was going to my father-in-laws house last night and while passing a Dodge dealer, to my amazement there was a black Challenger sitting on the front row along side all the Rams.
It's a black SRT8, 6.1HEMI, 5spd with leather. Now the driver seat already looks slightly worn and the dash looks cheap and slapped together, very low quality look. They are asking $61,035, which is too rich for my taste, but sure someone will pick it up for that cost, simply to have the latest and greatest.
When did these hit the dealers? Anyone getting one? What ya think?
Here's some pics and the dealer site has 46 images.

Just looked over some of the specs.
Built in Canada, weighs 4140lbs and listed as 2008 model. Heck that is basically as heavy as a 1996 F250 Scab longbed that weighs in at 4316lbs.

The exterior is sharp, great look and is what the Charger should have been.
But I'm sadly dissappointed with the interior. Other than the gauges, it looks like cheap leather and a crap dash and center stack.
No way I'd be caught driving that for $61K. Like others for the price, I'd opt for the GT500 whos interior looks a lot better but looks just as good on the outside.
Remember guys, when the current Stang came out, dealers were charging outragous amounts over MSRP for the V6 let alone the GT. So wait a year or so and the price'll drop. Especially if the gas prices keep going up.

The SRT has an msrp,( including the gas guzzler tax ), of right at $40k. There will always be some people that just HAVE to have the early models and will fork out the surcharge. When the Prowler came out they were getting $25k over msrp and even the PT Cruiser fetched $10k over msrp. With gas prices up so high, I think you will quickly see the Challenger and Camero selling prices drop to invoice or below. There are a number of chevy dealers selling new 09 vettes for 'employee pricing' which is below invoice.
As for the Challenger... it looks cool but I'm also not crazy about the interior. If I were to buy one, I'd wait for the RT version with the smaller hemi which I'm guessing will end up going for $25k - $27k.

I hard the Challenger interior was actually fairly decent, and that the seats were good as well. A review in motor trend (all you guys favorite site ) sited its interior as being better then the GT500.
The Challenger did perform impressive considering its size and weight.
Wait for the 09 Challengers. The 08s are only available in the $40k SRT8 flavor, and come with a mercedes sourced automatic transmission only, and electronically controlled limited slip.
The 09s will be available in all flavors, including the R/T with the 5.7, have a 6 speed manual (same one used in the viper) and a real limited slip differential.
