I just installed a new 180 degree thermostat today to see if i could make my heater put out heat. It will blow luke warm for a few minutes, then cold the rest of the time. what could be causing the problem here? the thermostat is cycling i tested it before install, i've also watched the radiator drain when the thermo opens... any ideas i'm really stumped.
"Drain"??? Do you mean it starts circulating, or starts to go empty?
Anyway, consider pulling the heater core to check for leaves & crap that are covering it. Also, the blend doors in the ducts are known to break off their film hinges & jam in one direction. There should be one IMMEDIATELY beside the heater core that controls the temperature.
I shoulda said circulating but i was a little out of it last night, it does circulate and the thermo does open, i'm going to go look at it some more in a few hours and i'll post back tonite.
Try reversing your heater hoses. If someone replaced the core or the hoses, they may have put them on backwards. To be efficient, the core needs to fill from the bottom to the top, holding the hot water in the core longer.
well i got it guys, it was my heater case, it was pulled loose from the firewall slightly. it gets nice and warm on the inside, thanks for all the input though.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 15-Dec-02 AT 09:56 AM (EST)]Reverse the hoses... hmmm, think I'll try that. Bought mine from a guy who changed the motor and maybe got em backwards. Heat needs higher (1500-2k) rpms to put out heat.
Thanks
Got any ideas on how ta supe up the blower motor. Would be nice to have cook you feet heat like my jeep YJ....
