No one seems to like the AOD, but I like it. My F150 has it and its in gear before the lever is all the way in position. Nice crisp shifting, no slip, no electronics and tall overdrive ratio. whats not to like?
Well, I have already bought an overhaul kit.....and we will be doing it together...The deal was when he bought me the bronco, I did all the work myself...and as I have a father and 2 uncles who are mechanics....I have been around enough to do almost all of it myself.

I was going to switch to a ZF5sp, but this came up instead....may still go that route later on, I just want to get it on the road....

You have the right plan then. A 5 speed can be fun, but the ZFs are not cheap usually and I think you would be hard pressed to find one for less than $500 that still works.

I briefly thought of going to a 5 speed instead of the E4OD when I decided to ditch the C6. Too much trouble for my taste since my truck was already auto.

Loved the video of your mechanic at work.

Thanks

Well, actually I found a really good rebuilt ZF5sp which was checked thoroughly by a friend for $300....but as the AOD was on 75 bucks went with it instead.....

Yep checked it out, thanks Chris.....

No the tranny is not in yet......working on it, but it is hard because I only get one day a week off and Al gets one night a week off, so tough to get organized....and my one day off, I pretty much do nothing.

So our trip is a definite go.....leaving here the afternoon of the 8th....hoping to leave here by 1ish...I will let you know for sure though....we can have a quick java someplace.......

Hey Chris....I just thought of something....wasn't I supposed to come and raid your beer fridge

Anyway...still not sure what time we are leaving on the 8th...hopefully by 1ish.....we could always just drop by if it is not too inconvenient for you......instead of meeting somewhere and buying a coffee...as I am sure I will be ready for that cooler full of beer we will have in the back anyway...it is totally up to you though.

Dropping by may be the best bet if you are through early enough. I leave for work at around 2:30. Even a hi, goodbye, nice to meet you would be nice.

Beer is locked up on days I work. Sorry the fridge door locks at midnight Thursday and wont open until Noon on Monday. Damn fridge has a mind of it's own.

Keep me posted.

Hopefully we will be there by then...I asked to get off work at noon on the 8th, so hopefully...then just a couple of last minute things and we are off.. I will keep you posted though.

You think I don't know how to get into a beer fridge

If we are too late going through Friday, we can always stop in on Monday on our way back.....and that way I know that beer fridge will be open because it will be after noon on Monday when we go through
