My engine has a rap in it, sounded like a htrown push rod or a callapsed lifter. Took it apart and valve system seemed okay. Had to take it apart anyway for there was anifreeze in the oil. Could head warpage cause valve noise? Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated.

Did a washer or nut get lost somewhere around the intake and get sucked in ?? This has been a classic problem since the invention of the carburetor . The piston may be chipped from pre-ignition detonation (pinging) . You may want check out the head area to see if there was anything banging around in the cylinder . If there was my guess would be that you may need a couple of new valves .
