here is how my crappy weekend is going

just got off the phone with my supervisor, another medical helicopter crash in Northern Arizona.
Guardian Air and Classic Lifeguard just had a mid air collision in Flagstaff.
first report 6 dead one still alive.
God rest their souls.
my co workers were at the Flagstaff hospital staying with our injured flight crew and witnessed the collision.
this only 1 and a half days after my helicopter crashed.

My heart and prayers go out to the crews and their families. I am at a loss of words as my emotions overwhelm me.

Man my heart also goes out to the families. That is real sad. Sorry to hear about something like that. A couple of years ago when we were in Pahrump our local medical helicopter crashed trying to get back from Las Vegas by Indian Springs. Weather was the factor 2 were killed. Our prayers go out to all involved by that awful accident.

thanks everyone,
Travis, the mid air was about 1/4 mile East of FMC they were both inbound to the FMC helipad. another hard thing is my nurse and medic are still in FMC and both have rooms with windows looking at the helipad. my nurse has nightmares every time a helicopter comes in and wakes him up. I just pray he wasn't awake and looking out his window when the mid air happened.

What a very sad event. I work for a major trauma hospital and our helicopters are coming and going from the rooftop day and night. I'm sure this tragedy is on the minds of everyone who is somehow connected to this much-needed type of service.

when I worked for Guardian Air our Transport Coordinators were available for any other aircraft coming into FMC but not all aircraft chose to use them. I don't know what the current policy is but am sure the NTSB will implement one.
I do know that fmc is out of the KFLG airport control area so they have no control over hospital traffic.

I just read in the paper that in Flagstaff, no one does.
Apparently the pilots have to communicate among themselves.
