true...but with a 6 speed transmission and better ECM programming and maybe more aggressive CAMs...and then hopefully the buyer can slap a CAI/Exhaust/Tuner on a 09+ and gain 20-30 more HP

I can easily see the 5.4 gaining 50 hp to have 350 at the flywheel and hopefully 290-300 at the wheels. we all lose alot of HP currently with the crappy shift points and adaptive transmission.

My new 08 F150, CC ,4.6, 4x4, 3.73 LS rear will not pull my 5500 pound 19 ft wildreness travel trailer on flat ground in OD. I miss the pulling capabuility of my 06 F250 with the torqueshift 5spd auto even though I only had the 5.4 it pulled alot better than my F150. I think most of the problem lies in the crappy 4r70w 4spd auto and then the 5.4 has more torque and horsepower but, not that much more displacement. Crappy weak trans for pulling. I wish I had tried out the combination before buying (what dealersip will let you hook up a new truck your camper and drive for 50 miles?).

I just had to have 4wd to go out on the beach so I traded my 2wd Superduty.

Oh and the 5.0 is a sucky engine for a truck too. I had one in my 1995 F150 rC, 4x4, 3.55 gears and it could'nt pull apart a wet paper bag with 190 hp and like 270 lb torque that thing was gutless in a truck. Oh GOD I MISS MY SUPERDUTY!!!!

When buying my current truck I was tired of the damn sparkplug issues with the 5.4 3valve heads couldnt get them out without breaking the porcelin what the heck is that? Why all these problems Ford I bleed blue and this is what you do? Just ranting now.

well we've established the 4.6L isn't the best half tonne to tow with? but just general labouring with this truck (hauling motorcycles and stuff in the back) i find the truck is PERFECTLY fine

hey Rob188...I think we'll actually see the 4.6 get a little bit better though for all purposes soon. The extra 40 hp or so the 4.6 3v has will most likely offset 99% of argument for a 4.6 vs. 5.4. Sucks the new 5.4 is only projected for 320 hp

...here ya go

decent.
Quality = 6/10. I've got the Limited so it's quite nice inside, but it's kinda narrow for such a long SUV...so everything is cramped side/side.
Power = 9/10. Hemi is just fun. I've never had an AWD vehicle burn out. Durango towed a 3,000 lb trailer just fine. Played with the Tow/Haul but no real loads yet.
Price = 10/10. Got a 2005 AWD Limited with Hemi and 40,000 miles for $20k. Couldn't get a Ford/Chevy SUV to save my life for anything less than $25k unless went to a 2003/2004 with high mileage.
Reliability = 5/10. Had the Durango 3 months. It's been to the Dealership 4 times already for 2 recalls, a PCM replacement( ), Fuel system diagnostics/repair...thank God it was all under Warranty. I think the rear pinion seal needs replaced also .

nope, not yet. it'll probably go the way of the dodo once the diesel engine is a reality. I see the 5.4 and 4.4 as the only engine choices shortly...maybe the 4.6 3v as the base motor...be about 5 years before we know though

I had an 87 f150 w/ a 5.0, C6, and 3.08 gears with an open diff. in 87 the 5.0 had a monsterous 140hp. let's just say it took a long time to get places...
