How about somewhere in the Manzanos in late August? Lots of trees, high elevations and great views. I don't think I would camp but would go down for the day.
I won't be able to make it until after aug 2 but keep me posted. We have 13 acres here in Ojo Caliente- Catherine calls it our "pickup bed and breakfast" due to the number of "projects" in the orchard. Across from us is a mesa on BLM land- primitive camping- no bathrooms, etc
Ojo Caliente sounds good. It's not too far from home. Since school is out, the wife only gets weekdays off so that I can work and she can be home w/the kids. If I show up it will only be for part of the day.
How about Cochiti lake? they have a pretty nice picnic area with a roped off swimming area.
Still open to more suggestions.
any ideas on date, location, etc??
FYI there is a big car show in Alamosa, CO on Labor Day weekend. Keenan and I are trying to paint 2 Trucks in the meantime so we can each "cruise" one at the show.
