Smile 51,52, F100 windshield chrome......

Hi-Low again, need a little experience with my 51 M100. I've looked around our site looking for some advice on installing my windshield rubber and chrome trim. Does the rubber go on the windshield first? If so what can I use to make installing the chrome trim easier. I'm sure someone has dealt with this before. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Vern

It helps if you have at least one extra set of hands. It's a real PIA to do. I've had to do it a few times to my '49 F-2. I install the stainless trim before installing the window. I leave the bottom of the trim loose and use a nylon paddle to install it into the grove after the window is in. The center seam cover snaps on last.

The manual says to install the trim last but I have never been able to do it that way.

If you have the four tabs remove them, they just get in the way and cause trouble. If your truck came with the trim piece it shouldn't have the tabs.

I took mine to a auto glass shop and had them do it. Paid $60, but it was stress free and required no cussing on my part. They hadn't done one in a while and it ended up taking 3 of them about an hour and a half to get it done.

That makes me feel good, I never did it before and I think it took me about and hour or so the first time, a little less the next two times. I have two more trim pieces to do, one on the panel and one for the F-4. I don't look forward to it.
