now don't laugh me out of here just yet, the truck came with this radio, detachable face, cassette, digital tuner, ya know the works for the time *1982* just wondering since this radio has none of the wattage ratings on it anymore, if anyone could get me the wattage for it, cuz it seems to be slammin the H*ll out of my 6 1/2 cerwin vega's in the doors
well it has great sound so long as there isn't too much bass in the song i got a pioneer supertuner 3 fixinta put in there *cd player* and then i'm gonna go invest in some jbl audio 8's or 10's what ya think?
Is that supertuner 3 an FM modulated 6 pack ? (Runs through your FM radio) I'm thinkin' you might have better luck replacing the head unit (deck). Are you sure the deck you have is not 1992 rather than 1982 , detatch faces and digital tuners are a little newer technology than that. I might be able to see it being a pull out deck of that age. Please don't take my questions the wrong way , I just want to help and we are all here to learn.

LAST EDITED ON 11-Mar-01 AT 12:18 PM (EST)[p]Nah he is replacing the head unit pioneer calls there tuner a super tuner just like clarion has "magi-tune", pull out decks i bought a truck that had that i promptly gave it away what a gay pos, but yeah their were no detachable faces in 82 altho a digital tuner was a factory option on Ford pick ups in 79
LAST EDITED ON 11-Mar-01 AT 07:51 PM (EST)[p]ah it must be newer then, because i don't have an inkling what the truck had stock, i know the motor and tranny specs, but other than that, nope nodda, the radio is ok, but i was just wondering if anyone had the info i needed...because there isn't a wattage rating on the cerwin vega's in the doors, *faded away* all you can see is they are vega's.
and i wanted a radio that would push the same amount of power to them
as always help is appreciated

I wouldn't worry too much about your vega's as long as try to get your THD (total harmonic distortion) as low as possible from the source (deck ,amp). Distortion will blow speakers long before clean sound . Also deck power tends to be awfully over rated .Even alpines 40 watts per channel decks only actually push about 18 watts per channel.

Alright, i messed with the balance on it and noticed that when i put my sound all the way to the right, the left speaker still plays, which means i'm gonna have to go buy some more speaker wire, and rewire the entire stereo, *speakers* so that they do play on separate channels... what fun eh?
