OUCH, while reading all the posts on here i was watching my local 10:00 news and they were saying that if oil prices are going to continue to rise, that experts are stating that by 2010, we will be seeing $7.50 for a gallon of regular gas. no mention of diesel though...thats an amazing $330 for a full 44 gallon fillup.
i really dont think you will see 7.50 a gallon because the economy really couldn handle it... its barey floating at 4.00 a gal.

I think $4/gal is barely even making a difference yet. Everyone complained at $2 a gall, then even more so at $3 but i dont really know anyone who changed there lifestlye any at that point. Now at $4 folks are just now starting to downsize and skip some long trips. I'd say it has to double before it becomes a serious problem. I really hope it doesnt go that high though... I just moved and now 40 miles away from my place of work...
another thing that the oil companies are doing is making the normal higher... in other words now they can drop the prices to $3 a gallon and folks will now think its a good deal.. smart guys rippin us off up there!!

That's exactly what I think will happen. All they have to do is lower the price just a little and people will be lined up around the block thinking it's a smokin good deal.
yea they do it every year, year after year. I think the "magic" number will be $5.00. Then I THINK, ppl will change thier habits, at least for awhile, till they get used to it, and everything else adjusts, ie pay etc.
I have a great gauge of when fuel is too high, and we have not hit it yet.
I will let you know when school starts.
When we let out, we were not to high, and I will tell you why I say this.
first let me tell you we are a rural place, 1 hs, 1 ms, 2 k-5's.
Every morning, there is a line of cars waiting to drop off their "precious" cargo. Ppl going out of the way, so their special ones don't have to ride the bus with all the "other" kids.
The HS parking lot is FULL. We have few jobs around for teens, and when school lets out till late into night, most of those cars are driving around town, wasting gas. I have nothing against teens driving, however when i was there, i paid my own way, which meant work, and 90% of the cars then were grunts like me, that left school to goto work. cruising was limited to fri or sat night, and depended upon how much "extra" money we had, which ussualy was not much. These kids drive and drive, because mom and dad, dont want their kids to be lacking!!!
When gas get high enough, parents will stop this and treat thier kids like my parents, and say, you wanna drive all over, you pay for it. I dont care what ppl think, you can ride the bus for FREE>>>>>
