I had the same problem with my 2005 explorer. Lucky enough I work with mechanics who used a code reader to figure out it was because there was too much fuel in the engine due to my car having issues starting (It gets cold in North Dakota in the winter lol). I just cleared the codes and have not had problems since. Hope that helps...
