Best way to 400HP

I have a fun/pull truck. I brougth a nice old 95 to play with and pull the boat.

The truck seems solid, runs good, looks good, cold air, etc. I would like to play with it and my goal is 400HP still being able to pull my boat (12K#) with out killing the motor.

The truck is stock and this was my thought?

-3" DP
-4 inch exhaust
-Stage 2 injectors
-Napa 6637 filter (already on the truck)
-D66 turbo
-Chip (controlable unsure whos)

What are you thoughts what would this give me on a 170,000 mile truck. Would this kill it? Do I need the D66? Is this a good set up or is there better.

I will be doing the work my self in stages this winter. The budget is about ~5K.

Thanks

2X = Stock thrust bearing on D66 still a problem. H2E will be a lot more dependable.

Dieselsite also have the Pulse, and an electric fuel system that is pretty good.

Don't forget about your clutch and some gauges.

I'd still be worried about that thrust bearing. They don't like boost over 25 pounds for extended times..

I keep reading about the stock thrust bearings being so bad on these turbos...... Why? I have pushed my stocker past 35psi for the past 40-50k miles and its still the original after 270k only changing the wheel. Does the d66 have stock thrust bearings or is it a better aftermarket one? I think that for the air it flows and half the instal price it would be my choice in a new turbo

How yours has survived that long, i have no idea.
you should definately look into an intercooler.

I have been looking into doing some decent modding to my truck too and I have decided to go with a set of stageIII DIYs, HX50, Pulse, CPx fuel system, TW tunes and a 6.0L intercooler. This should be good for 450-500ish I am thinking... if only I had more money! Good luck with your build though.
