I need somemore help here. The front driveside brake on my 64 f-100 is grabbin. Any ideas where to start?
The brakes look good but I cant find the problem.
Thanks
Matt
P.S. i got the carb problem fixed. My original diaphram had a metal piece around it and the new ones didn't so it leaked. We put the old diaphram back in and she runs good now.
Make sure the front passenger side brake is good; mine was doing the same thing, and it turned out that the seal in the wheel cylinder was leaking, causing the drum to get slick.
Did you put self adjusters on it? 64 does not have them and when one side wears more than the other they need to be re adjusted, and they will pull to the side that gets the drum contact first.
A wagner kit for a 65 up will work on the 64 backing plate.
Sounds like you might have to replace the brake hoses if the hardware and leaking wheel cylinder aren't the issue. The brake line can look physically fine on the outside but the rubber swells shut from old age. Think of it like a clogged artery.
