Grandpa's 1972 F100. 6cyl. 3 on the tree. Bought it from him for $1 when I was 16. He'd wrecked the back. I'd wrecked the front. It shook like a dog shatting razor blades over 55mph, but no matter how many cars I blew up or wrecked or just couldn't keep running, that truck always started every single time.

Ha!! How about that. It shouldn't be surprising I guess that the DMV doesn't know any better. I guess considering the Ranchero was built on a '70s era full size car platform it's as much of a truck as a Ford Ranger is these days.. could probably haul more!

it sure hauled it a heck of a lot faster!
it was the boss 351 engine with ported and polished heads, larger valves, edelbrock intake, holley 750 cfm, headers, 3.55 traction lock, huge sway bars front and back and mallory ignition, coil, and hyfire system.
was a mild custom with shaved door handles and some other body mods.
had a fiberglass cover over the bed.
did not haul a lot of weight, but the bed was a good thing to have.
i drove it for 10 years and sold it for 5 times what i paid for it.

It would have to be the old 55 F100 I had many years ago. Butt ugly turquoise green, 351 police interceptor, 4 speed manual floor shifter, Buick Regal tilt column, and a modified keg in the back for a gas tank, with a beer tap handle on the shifter. I affectionately called it "IGOR". The previous owner did the tilt conversion, but I put the interceptor in her. Pulled it from a 66 Merc Monterey cruiser. DANG that tuck could MOVE!

Definately my 1995 F-150. My first truck, and I'm still driving it almost every day. I've put over 115,000 miles on it since I bought it in high school in '02. A rear fuel pump right after I got it, starter, slave cylinder, and little mostly maintenance things are all I've had to do to it. It'll turn 224,000 next week.
I've got two other 92-96's (actually a 97 F-250) and they're both good trucks too, but they're still not quite like the one I mentioned. The 97 had a few issues when I bought it that I worked out and now it's a great truck too. My other 95 is kind of a beater work truck. It's always been underpowered and has some rust. The original transmission (323K) is showing its age too. Still reliable as any though.

Best truck
Having owned more than I can barely remember, many have been great trucks. Most were Fords with only a couple Chevy's in the mix and a Dodge I didn't own but drove regularly (those slant 6's run GREAT!)
All that being said, I'd say top dog was my red on red '85 F-150 short box 2wd pick up with the 300 I-6, 5 speed. my high school 'hot rod'. I learned to offroad with that truck, and put it through hell, but it hardly ever let me down with the exception of a burned clutch and a bad starter cylenoid.
boy that truck loved being in the air.. and I sure loved putting it there.lol

I've owned lots of Ford trucks over the years. But my absolute favorite was a 77 F250 with a 300 6cyl 4 speed with granny low. I worked that poor truck to death. Actually, I worked all my trucks to death. I've only had a couple chevys and they didn't last long. Couldn't take the workload. I'd rather push a Ford, than drive a chevy.
