Listers,
Need your expertise. My CD is stuck in my stock Stereo System (off of a 1995 F150). It keeps trying to eject it out, to no avail. Can't even turn the system on.
Any ideas out there or am I hosed???
When you hit eject, can you hear the motor in the player trying to eject the cd, or is it not operating at all/no power? If there is some sound of the motor whirring, trying to eject it, try this:
I had a problem like this with an aftermarket cd player in one of my cars. I'll give you a lead, but I can't gaurantee it will work, and no damage will be done either. But what I did was I took a paper clip, staightened it out al the way, and with a pair of pliers, bent a tiny hook in the end, no more than an 1/8 of an inch. I slipped that in, and as I hit the eject button, I snagged the cd by the center hole using the paper clip and I just jerked it out. Luckily no damage was done, and the problem never came back. Again, I can't gaurantee the saem will work for you, it's just an option.
I've got a similar problem with the stock radio in my '96 Eddie Bauer Bronco. Mine has moved on to "Phase Two" by switching from CD to radio, to CD, to radio, etc. I've had to patiently wait until the unit has made up her mind and then it WILL eject the CD. Sometimes it helps (works) if I switch the truck off and then re-crank it. Others have had this problem (search the archives) and it seems that there is a plastic gear inside the unit that wears out. It can be repaired but I haven't had mine done yet. Really I would like to get a new radio but I can't find one that will just slide in as a replacement and have the appearance of the stock unit. I don't like the newer style blue or amber lights with all of the other lights being green. (Picky aren't I?) Perhaps, one day, I'll spring for a stock replacement Ford unit - $375+ (ouch)
