Me too!
Not the same type of quality work you are doing on your Excursion but it should be a fun driver when I finish it. Someday I'll get my new garage built then I'll be able to work on the stuff year round. The summers up here are hot enough for me! If I was in AZ I would melt away !!

Hey FordMan I feel your pain. We got about 18 inches of snow here and did have some below 0 temps. Im luck though I did get my garage lighted and installed some heat. I still have to insulate the attick space above it and I will be ready to get going inside. Got to get the holidays behind me first. Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

'59 - '79
Looks like you have been doing a great job on your conversion. I have a similar prodject, a '59 cab on a '79 4X4 chassis. I thought it was something could just throw together but as you well know things don't work that way. I shortened the frame 18" to match the '59 wheelbase, put a 460 out of a '78 Mercury in it for power. I used the '79 cab mounts because they have a lot more cushion to them compared to the '59 mounts and fabricated frame brackets to reach the '59 mounting points. I've done a lot of other things also like using all '79 gauges in the '59 dash and used the '79 booster/master cylinder and heater so essentially it's a '79 in a '59 cab. I'm still not finished but I'm down to the wiring and a few other odds and ends. Chas

Thanks, it seems like I always end up doing things the hard way. Right now besides the weather my biggest hold up is just lack of cash. I need a few truck loads of parts and supplies. But I'm working with very little cash. So I have to pick up a part here and a part there as I get a few dollars in my pockets. So what I was hoping was going to take 6 months to a year to build is probably going to end up being a 10 year build.
You need to post some pics of yours!! You should start your own build post!
Your truck sounds very cool! And it sounds like you are getting close to being done. I'm jealous! You should make a post of your build and post some pictures!! I'd like to see what you've done. It sounds like you've made a nice blend of the two trucks.

I know all about having a pile of parts! I got parts pile 7 feet high in my little 3/4 car garage. And I still have the rear diff sitting on the back of my big diesel truck. When your garage is too small to fit a vehicle in assembled you have to pile the parts high.
But for a little update, I received an Offenhauser gas pedal assembly for Christmas. And over the weekend I bought a new steering wheel that I've been saving for a few months to get. It's a blue metal flake steering wheel that is a larger diameter then my current steering wheel. It should look cool until I get it dirty. I will post a picture when it shows up.

Here's a little update. I got a couple more parts I needed.
Here's the Offenhauser throttle pedal assembly that I received as a gift for Christmas. I like the pedal but the build quality is horrible! All the pivots are extremely sloppy, the hardware is as cheap as you can get and they put the pedal itself on upside down! So I'm going to have to find some kind of bushings for the pivot points and replace all the hardware.
And I've been saving my change for a few months to get this. I was finally able to buy the steering wheel I'm going to run. I think it looks cool and should fit the style of the truck a little better then the black one. My black steering wheel looks like it belongs on a "Pole Position" arcade game. This wheel should look good until I get it all dirty/greasy. I do plan to paint the spokes white instead of the chrome finish.

Thanks!
The sig pic is the most complete the truck has looked. I haven't done any work on it since November.
Right now the truck looks like this only it's all packed away in a tiny garage.
Here's a pic of when I test fitted all the interior parts I had.
This was the most current work done to it. I ran out of time, money and supplies. Once it warms up and all this snow melts I'm hoping I can get going back on this. I'm hoping I can get the metal work done on the cab and the frame this year. But with all the parts I need and my lack of funds it's going to be a few years before this is one the road.
