I have a 2006 F-250 2x4 with the 6.0. So far I have put on the Bully Dog tripple dog w/outlook moniter (I know the SCT is supposed supposed to be better, but I got a good deal on the bully dog), Banks Ram-Air intake, and I have orderd 5" MRBP exhaust the one w/o the cat (hasnt came in yet, Cant wait). What should I do next. I was thiking Banks techni-cool intercooler, but I dont know. Should I do head studs before I go any futher, or should I do someother performance mod. Also my EGR is unpluged, My EGT's run around 1442 deg or so with the peadle to the floor. The bully dog kept defueling so I raised the limit to 1500 deg. Is this Ok? Is there something else I can do to get the EGT's down, or should the exhaust take care of the high EGT? I know that this is alot of questions, but I dont know much about diesel performance, and you guys are the best. . as always thanks for your input.

thanks I also tow a 38' fifth wheel. it is very heavy. the coolant and trans temp dont get too hot but they do get up there a pretty good ways. what should I do about this.
thanks

Exhaust will help lower egt's but a 5" exhaust for just a tuner might be alittle more exhaust then you needed. Also is the reading for your egt's pre- or post-turbo? Which ever one it is 1442 is a little on the hot side no matter where your getting your reading from. I also suggest getting the studs done as well, but while your in there doing the stud get a fluidampner, fuel regulated return, and if your going to do bigger performance mods like injectors and/or turbo do it now as well. Of course, doing injectors and/or turbo would mean that you would have to ditch the bully dog and go custom unless you want to take a chance of a rough ride.
+1 for adding ARP head studs, especially since you tow heavy.
I added a Mag-Hytec pan and a bypass trans filter (Dieselsite) and it's helped keep the trans temp down a bit. According to the FTE resident Ford transmission expert, Mark Kovalsky, the TorqShift and Mercon SP fluid can take up to 220 degrees. The highest I've seen since changing the pan and adding the bypass filter is 210 degrees while towing up the Grapevine bypass mountain road last August on a 100 degree afternoon at 25 to 35 mph.
They also have a coolant filter that's highly recommended to keep the block casting crud from blocking the engine oil cooler and overheating the EGR cooler.
Evans waterless coolant I heard works a lot more efficiently than regular 'ol antifreeze, but it's what I would consider expensive. You can see their advertisements in the diesel performance magazines. If your EGT probe is pre-turbo where it should be, you can run at 1200 F all day long, but beyond that, you start to do damage. I wouldn't run mine above 1300 for more than 45 seconds or so, and above 1400 for more than 10 seconds. Like everyone else said, do the head studs, because sooner or later you'll need them with that setup. It is also my experience that bully dog chips and tuners seem to get hotter faster than most other brands. If your pyro probe is installed after the turbo than you should read about 200 F less than pre-turbo. Also, a good way to get your trans. temps down is to down shift and let the engine rev a little higher. It puts less strain on things, letting them cool. try this next time you get it uncomfortably warm.

Your tuner is bogus, as well as your intake. 5 inch is too big. Banks is over rated (Spearco). Get ARPs off eBay. Get a FASS(R/R) or Airdog. Your EGTs are too high. Spray it with Nitrous or Water injection. Get big oil and big injectors. PHHwwweeeew!
Actually their intercooler is the best thing that they have. I like what Spearco uses as materials, but I like the thickness of the banks one.

Actually you mean ITP or Airdog. The FASS fuel system is not a true RR system by the fact that it does not eliminate dead-heading that the injectors are known for on these engines.

Water injection maybe, nitrous not worth the trouble.
IMO get the studs before intercooler. or you can hope that your TTY bolts hold the power, some actually do, and only replace/upgrade to studs if needed.
ok the prob is pre-trubo I at least knew that much when I put it on. the egt's stay around 1200 or maybe lower for the most part. when I said 1442 I was mainly just talking about when I get on it. I dont let it stay that high for too long. As far as the 5" exhaust it just seamed more logical to me, cause it was less than 100$ more than the 4" 150$ max. I make good enough money, so I figured why not spend a little bit more and get the bigger exhaust. There is no way im ever going to put nitrous in my truck. I realy dont like that stuff. I might look into water methonal later down the road. For now I think im going to go with the head studs. then probably something to keep the trans a little cooler.
