84 F350 460ci to 5.9 Cummins Swap

Is it possible to swap the 12v 5.9 Cummins into an 84 F350 that currently has the 460ci motor?

Does It Make Sense ?

Not sure what your goal is, but you can buy a lot of fuel for what that swap will cost you.

Why swap the 460. I mean i love a diesel but why not just turn your 460 into a 557 or even bigger. Regear and lock up your axles add some 500lb bumpers and a winch or 2. And just dog any diesel out. I have a 92 with a 460. I have plans on doing a zf 5speed and dana 60 swap, with the simple goal to eventually stroke the hell out of my motor, do a carb swap, wicked cam, headers and possibly stacks (lol maybe not). And destroy all these diesels that think a chip makes a truck.

that 12 v cumins is an awsome motor and is a great swap for this truck. i know 2 people running this motor in a 64 ford and 77 ford both with 38" tires and getting 19mpg in town. cant do that with any gas motor with this setup.

Ya... that's a lot better than 7 mpg with a stroked 460! Not to mention that the gas motor would ever be able to match the torque of a Cummins.... dollar for dollar! And the funny part is that the Cummins gets it done with only 360 cubic inches.. LOL

also think about the life of the motor. you build a 460 to compete and expect 150k miles out of the build is probably optimistic. the 12v cummins will go 300k easy
