76 390 going into a 78 F150 351M

I am trying to get parts together to put my 76 390 w/ a C6 into my 78 F150. My f150 currently has a 351M w/ a C6. The 390 has new motor mounts on the motor but my concern is will the mounts on the truck chassis accept the 390. Also I measured the 390 from mount to the end of the tranny and it is 45 inches. The 351M with a C6 is around 47 inches. Can anyone tell me if I am going to have to fab up some new mounts on the chassis and if the drive shaft is going to end up a problem on length.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Also I am in the Columbus, IN area. If anyone has a need for a decent 351M and a C6 I will be needing to move this engine shortly after it comes out.

Thanks in advance

you need FE/I6 frame perches, but once you do that the transmission should wind up in the same place allowing you to use the existing driveline.

But there is a car and truck tailhousing for a C6. truck and fullsize car are 17" or so and midsize cars are 14" or so. That would create a difference for where the output of the trans would wind up.

Thank you very much. I think with the new frame perches I will be ok, the 390 came out of a 76 F150.

I originally was going to build a 429 as I have a good 429/460 block crank and heads, but My dad came across a complete 390 with a holley 650 on it for $100 that he heard run before it came out of the truck.

thanks again
