Just bought my first Ford diesel. It is a 97 F250 PSD. As I usually do when buying a new to me rig, I took it in for a full sevice. This included, a trany flush, rad flush, diff service and tc service. I had noted that after the truck warms up, the idle is a bit rough. The garage found a bad number 5 injector. They want to replace the number 5 injector, all 8 glow plugs, and install all new orings on the remaining 7 injectors. Now its not that all of that souldn't be done, but $1300 seem a bit much for that amount of work. am I way off? I do all of my own service work on my gas turcks, and I am not afraid of a wrench, Is this a job I can do myself? The labor charge was like $600 or somthing and a new injector was almost $400. What do you guys think?
I just did my injectors, its pretty easy realy.
i would do the work myself. infact tomorrow i plan on replacing the other half of my injectors tomorrow.
I would do the job myself if I were you. Definately find out if it really is bad first. The job is WAY easy. just as easy as replacing a rocker arm on a gasser. I just did mine and got good info here. I will get you a link.
Rubberduck has a GREAT writeup on how do change GPs (I had never done it before and had it done in 1 afternoon due mainly to his writeup) I will see if I can find it.
