Newbie To site..Love The Slicks 61-66
Hello all From Eugene, Oregon.
New to this site, but not the Fords...
My Very first Ride ever was a 64 Custom Cab 1/2 ton with 292 and 4 speed. It originally had a 9inch , but it was blown up when I got it at 16yrs old.,and I had a Dana 60 out of a Farm truck, so I swapped it out....Put duel exhaust under it with glass packs....Kept the old 2 barrel carb. Truck was The Bomb For a guy in high school....I've been out of the Ford loop for some time...internet is AWESOME.....
My New project is a restoration/customization project I'll be doing with my 13 year old Son and Daughter....
I have a 65 Shortbox Flareside that was originally Bought by the Oregon Forest service...It had a 240 Six and 4 speed With dana Rear. It came with a Complete 64 Front Custom Cab Clip including doors. I Also just aquired a 65 F250 2 door Crew Cab 2WD complete with a 352 original engine( tired) and a 390 Engine out of an early truck
My Hope is to graft the Crew Cab and the Flareside Box onto a 3/4 ton 4x4 Chassis....I have a 1990 ( Brand X ) suburban chassis complete with NV4500,Minus the 350 engine...I want to hopefully stick the 390 up to the NV4500....So I can have the Newer running gear and Nostalgic Slick Custom look...
Coolest part of this Project for me is that the 13yr old Daughter is 150% into doing it with me.....
I am a mechanic and fabricator, so the nuts and bolts of this is just time....
Hope I don't get too much bashing for Blending a bit with the Brand X.....
AWESOME FORUM...I've already lurked a bit and gained info...
Thanks, John and Crew.....
