Anyone ever Re-Key their truck?

I have an 03' Expy that was broken into last night.

They smashed the driver side window and ransacked the truck.

I am worried because they MAY have gotten a set of my keys.

About a week ago we lost track of the second set of keys to the truck. Could be in the house, somehwere, don't know, just can't find them. I don't THINK they were in the truck, but there was a ton of junk in there from moving some stuff out of storage.

There is a possibility that the keys were in there. Worried that if the keys don't turn up, and they were stolen, they'll come back in a week or so after i get the window fixed and just drive off with it.

If the keys are gone, any thoughts on getting the truck re-keyed? Anyone ever do this? Any idea on cost?

Thanks

-Anthony

Not entirely sure, but I do know that if you only have one key it'll cost you about $80 to have the stealership program another one for you. They said the key is $30 plus a half hour to program the key for a total of $80. I just asked yesterday because my recently purchased 04 Expy came with only one key and fob.

I would expect that completely re-keying the program would be pretty much the same. That would keep anyone from driving off.

Now, if you're talking about actually changing out any of the outside locks... that I don't know. I actually don't know how many there are. Used to be one on each door, but that has long passed.

My guess is it's gonna be spendy and time consuming, especially if you need a new keyless entry module too.
