removing feedback solenoid on a carter YFA

Hello,
I recently purchased a 1976 Ford F100. It has an inline 6 300 engine. The problem is that the engine was put in as a replacement, but not by someone who was very concerned with getting an exact match. I do not know much about these engines or trucks but it seems like the carburetor is a Carter YFA with a feedback solenoid. From what I can tell this carburetor needs a connection to a computer my 76 does not have.
The solenoid's wire hangs down and the hose goes nowhere. The engine seems to run ok when the choke is on but when it warms up and the choke goes off I can not get it to run at idle. I am wondering whether or not it is this solenoid. I have rebuilt the carburetor and see no other real reason it would not work.
Should I just block off the openings where the solenoid attaches???
Should I get another carburetor without the solenoid?? ( A Carter YF??)
Is there something else I should look for??
Thank you
Emet

every thing i have been reading has shown that the feed back solnoid is pulsed with a duty cycle that adjust how much fuel is diliver through to the fuel bowl to make the air pressure different their for changing the feed rate of fuel the reason that it sounds like the motor cant run once warm is due to a over rich condition. Do you have to tap on gas to keep it running? try this it will confirm if what i think is true. Start the truck and wait for it to warm up. Once you hear it start to stumble rev the engine like you are showing off its exhust sound if it clears as it picks up rpm then its a over rich condition if it stumbles and dies it is flooding (rare) or has a vacum leak( common) but i think it is the richer of the two lol jjk. I would recommend switching to a older style carb one that does not envolve the feed back system
