Hi, I just got this truck and it has auto door lock and power windows but no remote. How can I tell if it is wired for a remote? If so, can you help me with the programing steps for a remote?

You can get the remote on ebay. When people trade or sell there pickups they take the remotes and manual and sell them on ebay. I think if it is a XLT or Lariat it should have a remote.

Have all of the transmitters available before you begin. A maximum of four can be programmed.

1. Ensure that the vehicle is unlocked (all doors)

2. Put the key into the ignition. This position is known as the number 2 position.

3. Turn the key to the "OFF" or number three position. (clockwise)

4. Cycle, eight times, rapidly (within 10 seconds) between the 3 (OFF) position and the 4 (ON). Note: The eighth turn must end in the 4 (ON) position.

5. The doors will lock and then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has been activated.

6. Within 20 seconds press any button on the remote entry transmitter. Note: If more than 20 seconds have passes you will need to start the procedure over again.

7. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that this remote entry transmitter has been programmed.

8. Repeat Step 6 to program each additional remote entry transmitter.

9. Turn the ignition to the 3 (OFF) posiiton after you have finished programming all of the remote entry transmitters.

10. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has been exited.

 

Before you buy anything, try the procedure in step 4 above. If your doors lock & unlock, you have remote entry. If they do nothing, then your truck is not equipped with it.
