Thanks for the update IDMooseMan, just one suggestion is that after the word update you put in the date of the update. It would make it a little easier for the rest of us to track your trials and be able to tell the time of year it was done in, in case you are in a cold region.

Hey Rockitdog, welcome to .

Good idea Wildstang. The date does show up in the upper-left corner of each post when it was made. That date is usually within 3 - 4 days of the info gathering, but I'll try to remember to put the date in the post when I update the chart.

Thanks for the suggestion.

10K 159.3 / 341.5 MPG Not calculated

14.7K 166.0 / 351.2 MPG 16.7 MPG <-- Updated

15.6K 199.8 / 372.3 MPG 18.04 (from Tribal Chevron in Worley to Greenhurst Chevron in Nampa). Round trip average = 16.76 MPG

20.3K 155.0 / 329.1 MPG Not calculated

Without being on the rollers, it looks like the 15.6K is still preferred by my truck. I left the 14.7K installed in anticipation of attending the Dyno Day and MPG was already established. Playing on the rollers would not have any affect on the MPG testing. I'll most likely switch to the 10K on the next fill up.
Filled the tanks on 11/20. Still running the 14.7K since I thought I'd make it to the Dyno Day. Anyway, averaged 16.9 MPG according to the numbers. That's consistent with what I've been getting with this combination.

I think what I need to do is copy all the charts into one document so I can see the changes side-by-side. I'll have to work on that later. I'm setting up some computers for a gal I work with. She wants to surprise her Dad with a PC for his business.

I installed the 20.3K after filling the tanks, so we'll see how this one works. Have to control the right-foot pressure. There is a BIG difference with this resistor now that the exhaust is in. I really wish I'd been able to make the Dyno Day now. Can't wait for the next one.

I am kinda at a loss what this mod actually is. So what are you doing and what is it doing to the truck?

this is the "10k mod" done my way, you put a resistor of a given amount inline with the icp sensor signal to the pcm, it fools the pcm into thinking that there is less oil pressure then in reality so it comands more thus giving more fuel to the motor.

only if you run your egt's too high, the resistors shown above wont bump the pressures up any higher then custom tunes, its not as efficient, but it is cheap and fun.

I didn't make it to my Dyno Day in November 2008, but here's another update on the MPG test:

Stock 144.4 / 305.4 16.5 MPG

5.6K 135.6 / 285.5 MPG Not calculated (I think I grabbed the 4.7K instead of the 5.6K resistor so I'm disregarding this result until I run again with the new exhaust installed)

10K 159.3 / 341.5 MPG Not calculated

14.7K 166.0 / 351.2 MPG 16.7 MPG

15.6K 199.8 / 372.3 MPG 18.04 (from Tribal Chevron in Worley to Greenhurst Chevron in Nampa). Round trip average = 16.76 MPG

20.3K 155.0 / 329.1 MPG 15.91 MPG <-- Updated today

I'll switch to the 10K tomorrow.

Updated Info

Stock 144.4 / 305.4 MPG=16.5

5.6K 135.6 / 285.5 MPG Not calculated (I think I grabbed the 4.7K instead of the 5.6K resistor so I'm disregarding this result until I run again with the new exhaust installed)

10K 159.3 / 341.5 MPG=14.5 <-- Updated 12/22/2008
Full disclosure here: Outside temps have been below freezing during the entire test. (Three of the four GPs on the right bank are not working. I didn't check the left bank, the truck is in the shop as of today. I should have her back on Friday. I don't have an indoor place to do the work myself, that's why she's in the shop.) Idaho has had snow, ice and accidents causing traffic delays during my commute. The front hubs have been locked in during the entire test and 4WD has been used a lot!

14.7K 166.0 / 351.2 MPG=16.7

15.6K 199.8 / 372.3 MPG=18.04

20.3K 155.0 / 329.1 MPG=15.91

Once again, the clear winner is the 15.6K combination for overall power and economy. It's back in the truck.

Just curious. Has anyone else attempted this mod AND run on a chassis dynomometer to verify their results?

I'm not the only one who's done this, am I?

I'd like to know how other's trucks respond to the different resistor combinations.

The next Dyno Day is scheduled for August 30th. Anyone interested in attending?

I am up to 35 on mine and getting 17-18 mpg on my normal routes, maybe 1 mpg better and still runs good with no sputtering or running rough. I am thinking about going to 40k but I don't know if going to high will hurt anything.

When I used the 25K, my power fell off significantly. I wouldn't even try 30K on my truck.

Good luck, Matt.

After the way I was treated by the DiamondEye people (ordering and installation) I think I would've been better off with the MBRP system. The turbo still sings her sweet song, but I would've preferred the system I ordered (Stainless Steel) rather than the system I recieved (Aluminized).
