c6 tranny question

i want to know if u can take a c6 2 wheel drive tranny and change the tail shaft to make it work with my 4 wheel drive. i found a rebuilt c6 with shift kit in it. and it comes with a rebuilt 460 and 9 inch rear end with my gears. so i want to know if this will work on my truck. its a 1979 ford c6. if anyone can help it would be much appreciated thanx. mitch

According to other posts here, this requires complete teardown.

thanx for the info. ill tear it down. i just wanted to make sure it could be done. i guess its time for me to buy a tranny book, and learn how to put it together. thanx
