06 F-150 5.4l Rev Limit Setting?
Just picked up a Hypertech power programmer lll, what is the best all around set-up for this truck? What is the rev. limiter and shift points set too at stock? Searched my owner’s manual and found nothing giving me this information.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Any info would be appreciated.<o></o>

The rev limiter should be set about 400 rpm above the highest shift point. It will limit your revs and save your engine in case the tranny blows. Most people I have seen here set their WOT shift points around 4800to 5100 rpm. The 3-4 shift should be lowest since that is the weakest link in the stock tranny. I think the WOT stock points for 1-2, & 2-3 are around 4750 and 3-4 at 4400. Play with it and see what is best for your set up. Be safe tho.

ive got a question about this also. but i have the sct xcal 2 and a buddy of mine has the livewire on an 06 fx2. why can he rev his 5.4 out to over 6k and i can still only hit the stock limiter of about 5300. i could rev my 4.6 out to 6200 with no problem, i understand i shouldnt be doing that but still. it ticks me off.
dont mean to steal your post, just had a question on the same subject

lol if you want to rev the **** outta something buy a honda hahah had my civic for almost 3 years after the first year put a Japanese motor in it and that thing has seen 8200 shifts ever since (8800rpm rev limiter) and still pulling strong (after 180,000 kms), it will kill my truck any day of the week

You should set a rpm limit. The reason is if your tranny blows under hard acceleration it saves the engine from grenading itself from reving too high.
