Riding Lawn mower (Tractor) what to buy???

I am looking for a well built garden tractor/mower.

I have an old John Deere STX38 that I have had for 14 years trouble free. It is time to replace it.

Looking at the new JD's at the big box stores - the quality doesn't look as good as my 14 year old Deere.

What to buy that is GOOD?

I want a tractor style mower that is going to last? My yard is not that big, I am just too lazy to push mow it.
Just about all the good stuff has been bought out by MTD or has gotten cheap (JD "LA" series). Plus I am not about to blow $4000 for a friggen lawn mower.

We have had Troy Built, which I think Lowe's carries, and have not had any problems with them at all. JD is a great company, but the ones you buy at Home Depot or Lowe's are not the same as the ones you buy at the JD store.

I'd get a zero turn. I have a cub cadet zero turn and that thing rocks. It will cut your mowing time in half.

its pretty simple if ya want quality you are goin to have to pay for it, either buy a new murry evey few years or bow up and spend the 4grand and get somethin like a simplicity, igerssoll, kubota. i dont think id get another jd it seems its all about the name instead of a good mower

Yea they are fun, I had a blast making a loop around his yard. But had to stop myself. He almost tricked me into cutting his yard.

JD X300 series. Some of the Cub Cadets looks to be fairly well built for a MTD product.

For home owner zero turn I would suggest CUB RTZ, Toro time cutter or the JD.

For most homeowners the zero turn is mostly wow factor IMO.

I my self are a big Cub fan...I do have a few JDs but the drive shaft feature on the Cub means less issues with belts.......

Its nice not having to do a 30-point turn and having to switch from drive to reverse 30 times.

We bought a JD X324 with the 4 wheel steering and it has been amazing so far. We bought ours from the dealership and I have really enjoyed the tractor so far, they put a lot of thought into this mower.
