New Reman. 351W Timing, Carburator or Ingnition Problem?

Have recently installed

Jasper remanufactured 351W
Rebuilt Holy Carb
new fuel filter, spark plugs, rotor, distributor cap etc.

Reoccuring Problems:
Rough Idle
Fouled Spark Plugs sometime up to 3
Lousey gas milage
Black Smoke

Mechanic
Scopes the engine
set fuel mixture
checks timing
cleans fouled plugs
and Test drives it.

I left the mechanics shop 4 times now (reoccuring problem),when I leave it runs fine until about 15 miles down the road, carburator loads up, it stalls out and black smoke out the exhaust. When I turn it off and try to restart only turns over once. If I let it set for an hour it starts up then I take it back to the mechanic and we start the process all over again. Can anyone please give me any help or advice.

was the power valve checked. what about float level. both could lead to the conditions decscribed.

New Reman. 351W Timing, Carburator or Ingnition Problem?

In between the carb and the intake is what's called an EGR spacer plate and requires an additional gasket against the intake. This item is often overlooked because the plate usually remains still while the carb is removed. If this gasket is leaking internally, between the EGR port and carb ports, you will have a disturbed fuel mixture. As far as the cranking problem,it is likely to be insufficient cranking amps because of the battery, connections or just a bad starter. The carb and the cranking problem are 2 seperate problems.

An insufficient ground could be causing your ignition not to be strong enough to burn the appropriate amount of fuel. The fuel ends fouling out the plugs. Did you remove the paint from the engine block where the ground bolt goes?
