Steering wheel v^<> wobble, whats worn out?
Ok, I have 1997 F450 diesel 302,000 miles on it. I think that all the constant people pulling themselves into the truck has worn something out. The wheel will move L,R,U,and D about 1". The tilt steering seems to work fine but it is a little strange driving it like this and it almost feels like eventually the wheel is going to end up coming off. I've taken the covers off and compared the amount of shaft showing with another truck and it is sticking out about 1/2" further out on mine. Any ideas will help. I know there is a lot of knowledge in this place. Thanks!

First off welcome to FTE.
I had the same problem with mine last year and it turned out that there are bearings and bushings in the steering column that wear out. You will need to pull the steering wheel and buy the bearing kit from the dealership. It wasnt very expensive as I recall. Just make sure to pay attention to the order of things as they come out and get a good diagram from the dealer so you can put everything back in the right order. Good luck.
