I'm here and I'm New!

Hey Everybody!

My name is Julie and I just inherited my dads old 51 F1 pick-up!

He was a mechanic for almost 50 years and the truck is in pretty good shape - not a gem, but driveable.

A freind of mine suggested I register with Ford Trucks and chat with people, so I did - and here I am.

I'm a pretty good mechanic too "for a girl" (I'm really quite a tomboy) and I think I might start cleaning this thing up and maybe add a little moden day "Womans Touch" like a 427 Cobra Jet engine or something quaint like that.

I'll be on from time to time, and I hope I get the chance to talk to everyone!

Until later,

Juls

Glad to have you on here! I hope you'll consider keeping that '51 "flat" with the stock motor. We love pictures so start a gallery so we can see what you've got!

Julie, Welcome aboard.. you have already (within your first few posts) run smack dab into the ongoing cookie war... Stock Vs Darkside. My 53 was sitting in a field pretty rough, but all stock. Since 53 was Fords 50th Anniv AND the last year they made the flattie, I've decided to stay stock... (Though the darkside calleth daily.)
IF your truck is already stock, my vote would be to lean in that direction... IF it's already been modified, there are some COOL darkside mods. (Like a little cobra)...
I think you'll fit right in here.

Welcome Juls! A quaint little 429 sounds like a great idea to me although I think a 302/351 small block might be more practical...

Welcome to the board and as far as these trucks go, they are really a blank canvas that you can use to express yourself in any manner you see fit. Build what you like, it's just nice to have another member aboard the Bonus Built trucks, and it's good to see that there are more and more women interested in these old trucks.

Have fun with it and you really have come to the right place. There are a lot of people on here with a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Welcome
Flat is where it's at.
Pictures, very important to have pictures.
Nothin' wrong with a Truck having a Girl for a Driver, in fact there are several Trucks with Girl Drivers.
NOTE: Girl Drivers are not to be confused with Girlie Motors (302's)
