I could buy 15, 6 gallon plastic gas containers, Then drive to New Jersey and purchase 90 gallons of gas for about $250.00. That should get me there and most of the way home again.

I might take a second vehicle, since my truck only holds two people. My car is a sedan, and gets about 30 MPG on the highway. It is actually cheaper to drive my truck and another car, than to use my SUV and tow my truck with a rented tow trailer.

Who is leaving on Wednesday Morning?
I am stopping for the night in Bristol TN, but I won't mind a little company up to that point.

I'd like to leave early Wednesday morning. I'd like to tag along with all of you, if you think that I can keep up.

I am only bringing one vehicle. It is only me and a friend, the wives are not going.

Here are some approximate times and mileage starting from the Dover area.

Annapolis, MD 72 mi, 1 hour 40 minutes.
Manassas, VA 71 mi, 1 hour 30 minutes, 143, 3:10 total
Staunton, VA 133 mi, 2 hours 15 minutes, 276, 5:25 total
Bristol, TN 230 mi, 3 hours 40 minutes, 506, 9:05 total
Knoxville, TN 110 mi 1 hour 45 minutes, 616, 10:50 total

This route is across the Bay Bridge, and around the DC Beltway to I66 West, then to I81 South to I40 and Knoxville. Except for the trip around the Beltway, it is by far the best route. I looked at taking Rt 301 south in MD, but it adds at least 1 1/2 hours to the trip.

We should leave at 4:30AM to get around the DC Beltway before 7AM, or wait until about 7:30AM and get to Annapolis at 9AM.
