Talking 1970 mustang gas tank

hi everybody i need info on a mustang gas tank. i have been told that u can seal the sending unit hole up and cut another on the top to make a GM sendding unit work ,because the ford sending unit is on bottom.GM has to be on top.anybody heard of this ? it sounds like it would work. any help or suggetions ? thanks !

I don't see a reason why that would not work.I had my filler neck cut off and relocated on my stang tank.Work was done by a local radiater shop.

Seen it on 2 trucks. 1 just cut the orig sender tube. The other had a round plate. Just don't go drilling on a used tank. Let the radiator guy help you if it is old. Good luck
