Unhappy Pictures of the "MYSTERY PART" HELP!!

<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message --><TABLE width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top>Sorry for starting yer another thread. Here are a couple of pictures of my mystery part.I have another thread going about an oil leak from the hpop. Well. I pulled the pump to fix the leak, and when I went to reinstall the pump, I found the mystery part. It's about an 3/4" long spring with a piece of metal capping it at one end. The cab has a small hole (.010) maybe, in the center it looks like the inside of a fuse holder. I finally said screw it and put it all back together without it and now it won't start. and yes, I did fill the hpop resevoir. And as of this morning, the resevior is still full so I don't thing it's part of the anti drainback valve, but hey, I've been wrong before.Anybody that hasn't read the other thread have a clue??

If you have a digital camera, please take new pictures. Turn off the digital zoom, and set it to it's maximum resolution first. Get your pictures, then before you upload them, crop it so only the part shows. This will help reduce the file size, so it will load faster. No offense but looking at those pictures is hurting my eyes. Thanks!!

Where did you find it? It looks like the spring and valve that goes inside the HPOP behind one of the HP hose fittings. I haven't had one apart yet, but I have seen a picture that shows a spring there.

Check my editted post. Does it look like this? Did you remove the line fittings before you took the pump off?

That my friend is exactly what it looks like. Should there be one in both fittings or just one?

similar, but with a flat head. Mueckster has actually figured it out for me. Now I just need to figure out if I lost one.

Good luck. I hope they are both there. Hopefully, the other one stayed in the pump.

Nice one Roland!

damn springs! How many times have you guys taken something apart, or were putting it back together, only to have a spring go flying off across the garage, sometimes never to be seen again. I think I spend more time looking for parts than I actually do fixing (or trying to fix) stuff.

Tell me about it. I was rebuilding a older Ford 5 speed manual trans and had several springs and ball bearings that were pain to reinstall. Had springs flying everywhere. Good thing I had another one for spare parts.

Nice Roland. I guess he removed the fitting instead of disconnecting the HPO hose. Reps to you for the pic.

Sorry dmueller71, I figured you would have seen it when you disassembled it if it came out of there. Good luck.

ok guys, I found the other one, and installed them in the fittings. Yes, I didn't have the tool to remove the lines from the fittings, so I just unscrewed the fittings from the pump. I still have no start. The resevoir is full. It was full of new oil, but now when I check it, black oil comes out, so I'm assuming that it's pumping, Any new ideas?

I'm assuming that the electrical connection on the back of the HPOP is the regulator?? The pump side of the connection is loose. It moves side to side in the housing. Could this be my problem?
