choke hot wire?

Ok now with the stupid question for the night. I am wondering if I have the choke wire hooked up to the right place. Right now it is wired to the Alt. Also how much voltage should there be on this wire? I am asking because I don't want to fry the electric choke. Tonight in between carb. swaps my pos wire terminal broke.

The choke hot wire should be connected to the ignition. When the key is on it should be getting 12 volts.

The FACTORY choke should be hooked to the sta terminal on the alternator, and it will have something less than 12 volts on it. Some aftermarket carbs require a full 12 volt, which will have to be hooked up under the dash (the coil doesn't have a full 12v either). Check your choke housing or instructions if it's aftermarket.

Hmm Holley 600 Vac Sec with Edelbrock intake? I think it is pretty safe to say I have a aftermarket Carb. But to be on the safe side I will go to the Holley Website and check to be sure. Besides, I was going to check the voltage coming off of the lead before just snipping it and rewiring. Thanks.

choke hot wire?

Ok just checked my voltage earlier tonight. I have 3.2 volts both running and rusting. So now I figured out where I was loosing battery voltage from. I love dealing with crappy wiring jobs. So tomarrow I am going to wire it up right. This also explains why my chike was so so. Thanks guys.
