Light in cupholder on dash?

My buddies 1999 F150 has a light in the cupholder that pulls out from the dash.

I looked at my 2003 pull out cup holder and it has a spot for a light but no light. I looked back behind it for a wire harness/bulb socket but could not find anything.

should my 2003 F150 have a light in the pull out cup holder?

I suspect that it would depend on what level of trim your truck is. XL. XLT, Lariat, or KR.

My 2000 F150 does have that light and it is an XL. But it also has the Sport package which makes it more like an xlt than anything.

I looked into the wiring for it. My wiring diagram shows a small 3 circuit connector with two wires, Light Blue/Red and Black. The LB/RD wire is hot at all times and is overload protected. It looks to be located back near the firewall in the center of the dash. Might be hard to get to. Good luck!

My '98 XLT has the "light in the cupholder" but its pathetically dim & virtually useless.

My 03 Supercrew Lariat has one. I find it useless and would like to take it out.

My '01 Screw XLT does have the light. I'm still hoping to find paradise by it and I would recommend not taking it out for that reason!

My thought was to modify/reposition this simple "light in the cupholder" so that it wasn't so completely useless. Its also seems likely some of these could be out of position, lost behind the dash, or to go unnoticed.

Only low achievers still hope "to find paradise by" any aspect of motorized vehicles. IMO its more likely to be found on foot w/o burning a drop of oil.

"Paradise by the Dashboard Light" - Meatloaf.... great song! American classic really - I'm sure others would agree. Search Youtube and you can see and hear it.

I appreciate the "low achievers" reference given you know so muuch about me - another great attempt by Club Wagon to pick a fight. Every time you post it makes me glad you're not my neighbor.

You poor underachieving hillbilly-boy, meat loaf is something you put ketchup on!
