Question alternator amps

can any body tell me how to check to see what amps
for a 92 ford e-150 van 302 5.0 altenator

I'd look it up in parts listings. I just checked rockauto.com and they used a 95 amp alternator and an optional 130 amp alternator. The 95 amp alternator has a case diameter of 5-1/8", the 130 has a case diameter of 5-5/8". It's gonna be one of those.

They also show photos of the 2 alternators and you can probably recognize the details on the one you have.

In my childhood, I learned a TON about cars by reading the JC Whitney catalog for hours and hours.

My empty 92, e-150, 300 six, cargo van came with the smaller amp rating. But found that switching to the 130 made the batteries last a lot longer. Especially if it has to run an AC at idle for long periods.
