I have just installed my wicked wheel a few days ago and it set some codes on my truck(as discussed in another thread). I had a P1282 and P1211 and I was wondering if an overboost annihilator would be something I should look into? Just to recap I also had a P0475, P0478 but they came from my EBPV being my exhaust brake. I'm not sure how much boost I was running when the check engine light came on because I was to busy looking at the road . I know I still gotta get a bigger exhaust also.
Well I am not sure if that would be the cause, but I have seen it mentioned I'll give it a bump. It would be a good idea to go with one anyways, you can build your own with a Air Compressor regulator, it is fairly straight forward from the looks of it. Hopefully I can get to it this weekend and post some pictues.,
Hey lee, i,m putting in a WW as soon as it gets here.(Hopefully tuesday) I'll post back if i have any codes pop up on me. Look for the thread Goodbye surge, hello WW.
I'm thinking my main problem is the stock exhaust! The wife gonna buy a new system for my B-day! I was just curious if this was something that would be a worth while investment? When mine threw the code I was running the homegrown heck out of it! Wish I would have set up my edge to keep a record of what it was doing.
Those codes are HPOP/ICP related. 1211 is ICP too high/low (HPOP can't keep up), and 1282 is excessive ICP (probably your ICP spiked up higher than expected). The OBA won't help you in this case...
Thanks Joe thats what I needed to hear. Next question what will fix these problems? My plan is to go with a better tuner(DP or the likes), will that help any?
Probably not. I get the 1211 all the time. When you get the DP, you'll be hitting that 25 psi defueling point in no time, so then you WILL need the OBA. Only two ways to cure the 1211 with hot tunes, and that's a high volume HPOP or a set of Single Shot injectors. The Single Shots use less oil for the same amount of fuel volume. I plan on going the latter route eventually.
As they say... One thing leads to another! I'll probably be looking at going the cheaper route, which ever that is. Thanks for the info! Any idea on prices for the single shots or HPOP?
It's about the same, or maybe a bit more for a set of SS sticks than it is for Pulse, but you'll get some more ponies out of them, so to me, that's the way to go. Nothing wrong with just going with the pulse, for sure though. My goal is to get close to 400 HP though, so I need the injectors no matter what...
EDIT: Jason beat me to it. I started to reply and got sidetracked. Good job!! Now he can see for himself...
Thanks guys. I think I remember reading something about having to do away with the factory fuel bowl to install the HPOP. Is that true? To be honest I'm not sure where the oil pump is on these trucks. Aint that crazy.. had the truck for over a year and been modding like crazy and dont even know where the dang oil pump is!
