New Chrysler V6 exhaust

New Chrysler V6 exhaust
This is a future V6 engine from Chrysler. It is a fairly run-off-the-mill modern V6 engine, DOHC, VVT, etc..but, the exhaust manifold is cast as part of the head, so there is just one giant port on the side of each head. I can't think of any advantage this offers, anyone else have an idea why Chrysler did this?

yeah i bet they save time and money by doing this. one less part to put on, one less part to make....less chance of an exhaust leak, simpler gasget, better clearances in the engine bay? more compact....
what is interesting is a little while back i was wondering why they didnt do that, just seems like it would be better for the car maker. they also might be able to heat up the air/fuel mixture better this way, get better emisions out of it....
