F250 cleaning and tune ups

I posted this in the 5.4 section but figured I might as well put it here too because it will get seen way more here.I will probably be keeping my F250 for another summer what are things I should do as far as tune up things and claeaning.Anything that can cause loss of power/preformance/gas milage over time.I already changed the plugs, cleaned the MAF,getting a new IAC valve and have a K&N air filter. Is there anything else I can clean up and/or replace?Anything whether big or small.I figure I might as well do everything I can since I have all summer.Gears will come after I have all the maintenance/tune up stuff done. Thanks alot for any input.

Clean the injectors?

It sounded like this might be the last year for the truck. If so, why would you change gears? Struck me as odd is all.

Well my luck either it will never sell or my wife will want to keep it.If I do keep it I will change the gears but if it sells before I can change them that would be a plus.

Now to clean the injectors you just put that injector cleaner in the gas tank right? Or is there a better way?

Not sure what the accepted way is these days. But we used to hook up a can of cleaner to the fuel line, cut off the fuel supply by a hard knock on the cut-off switch, and run the engine off the cleaner can until empty.

Putting an additive in the gas tank seems more like a routine maintenance thing. The above procedure would make an immediate difference, even to the point of passing a smog re-test. But that was older vehicles, so do your research. Hopefully someone else will jump in.

I've always ran injector cleaner in my tank of fuel and have never taken any thing in to have them cleaned. If you having problems it might be too late for the in tank method.

Just to extend the question a little further. Are there any proper procedures (cleaning types) and or milelage suggestions on cleaning the MAF and or the IAC valve as well as plug replacements, orig ford or aftermarket?

Check front and rear differential oil, transfer case, go over the brakes, hmm...

As for mileage when to clean MAF and IAC, not really... Some say every tune up, some say every other, some say "when it doesn't work"

Over time, check the MAF and see how long it takes to get dirty... here on Long Island with lots of traffic and diesel soot, my MAF gets black in as little as 3000 miles. Every oil change.

Run a can of seafoam through the vacuum system, flush the PS and transmission, replace the transfer case fluid, pull the throttle body and wipe it down (in front and behind the butterfly plate).

You could also clean or replace the pcv valve.

Can you run the seafoam through the hose from the PCV valve?

The PCV I think connects before the throttle body, so it will not suck in as well. I go through the brake booster.

Seafoam... I gotta compile a list of links to posts from people reporting things - like lots of metal on their magnetic drainplug after a seafoam treatment that was posted just the other day...

If it ain't broke, don't fix it ...

It's probably the same as the all of the people who believe that changing their ATF kills their transmissions. They probably didn't notice the metal before or they are using the product to repair a more serious problem.

There's no reason to shove a solvent into the intake of a running engine if there isn't something wrong with it to begin with.
