Replacing front gas tank on 1990 F-150

I recently bought a 1990 F-150 and found a leak in the front gas tank and I an wondering how difficult it would be to replace it on my own. Any input is greatly appreciated. I don't have much experience, but I'd like to start doing my own work on my truck. Thanks.

It can be done by one person. You will need to think safety first, (keep all sparks and flames away, etc). Drain or siphon the tank as low as possible, get a good jack to let it down, then remove the shield if it has one, and the hangers.

Another helper would be very nice.

I just had to pull mine to do the fuel pump and to me the worst part seemed to be putting the fuel filler hose back on right. It has a stiff plastic line in it that didn't like to give much. Anyway some additional help to hold and balance the thing while you put that on is just about a must.

I did it myself and it was pretty strait forward until I hit that spot, but I would do it again if I needed to.

I prefer pulling the bed especially because of the filler tube issue and the proper shaping and tightening of new straps if they're being changed. It also gives you a chance to examine everything and spray some rustproofing in unique places ect.

I secound that, I just did mine (fuel pump) last Saturday and had the same problem with the filler hose. Other than that, it was pretty easy took about an hour.
