Any suggestions on exhaust mods

Have a 2004 F-150 5.4. Thinking about upgradeing to a flowmaster catback and a K&N cold air intake. Anyone have experience with these on this engine.
Heard perhaps the computer needs to be reset for the cold air intake.

you dont need a tune... but it would help with harder shifts etc.

Here we go again. K&N is not the most popular alot of people like the volant air intake or the Roush/airaid intake. As far as exhaust magnaflow is the one for me. You can try seaching this subject this gets asked about once every week or 2.

yeah, I moved away from the K&N train with this truck and couldn't be happier. Went with the Volant. I have a Bassani stainless exhaust and love that as well. Not to loud (they make a "loud" one), but wide open throttle sounds amazing, and it has a great sound when just putting around as well. Not intrusive or annoying to my passengers.

I went with the magnaflow 16616 and love it. Great sound, not too loud and my passengers don't get drowned out. Great on the highway with no noticable drone. I don't have too much experiance with the CAI, but if you would like to try a high performace filter in the stock housing, AFE makes a dry high performace filter. That way you stay away from the oil problems some people have had. Check out u-tube. There is every mfg. exhaust listed on there to listen too to help make your decision.

Dont worry about it Sparky some people have had bad days or just mad at the world, they forget to quick when they were new and had questions..So Ask away any ?'s you have my friend. What are you looking for? Loud and aggressive exhaust or quiet sound? Whats your budget because a exhaust set-up can be pricey? You can just change your muffler out for more inexpensive decision for sound. AEM makes a dryflow filter that is a perfect fit in stock box without needing oil for filtration. I just changed my muffler and air intake and filter and picked up 4 MPG more then when stock. Ya the F-150 is a mean looking truck so get something that goes with it because the way it sounds stock is weak in my opinion. I wouldn't worry about sound being loud these trucks have 4 cats that absorb alot of noise so when you listen to exhausts make sure you listen to a F-150 with the 4 cats because if you listen to Chevy or Dodge they are gonna sound louder then the F-150. Good luck in your decision.

I agree...Bassani and Volant two of the best mods for my money

Flowmaster cat back and Airaid CAI works for me...and the Flowmaster price is right....less expensive than the stainless stuff.
